What We Accomplished in Community Banking Month

You may not be aware of this, but April is Community Banking Month. Community banks everywhere use this month as a way to give back to their communities and to show appreciation to their loyal customers. This is an important tradition for our community bank because we want you to know just how important you are to us! Our priority has always been our customers, and Community Banking Month gives us another opportunity to remain true to our mission statement of providing financial strength, reliability and opportunities for success within the communities we serve. This year, we decided to donate $100 for every day of April to local nonprofits – at least one nonprofit for each Casey State Bank branch. We have personal ties with some of these worthy causes and wanted to do anything we could to help our community as we recover from the pandemic. We are so grateful for you and are excited to share our community banking contributions in more detail!

Casey

Bri Foundation is a nonprofit founded after the passing of Brianna Athey by her family. They  began the Bri Foundation to give back to the community that Bri loved so much.  Bri’s aunt, Cindy Middleton, is a Customer Service Representative at our main bank in Casey.

 

Casey VFW – We support our veterans. Stan Grotenhuis who bought CSB in the 60s, was a WWII veteran who served in the US Army-Air Corp as a B-24 pilot. Stan has many relatives who are still involved with CSB including Megan Peavler and JR Frederick (his grandchildren) and Beverly Liebenow and Nancy Frederick (his daughters).

 

Casey Historical Society honors Casey’s history by preserving historical markers. We are proud of our history in Casey.

 

Flat Rock

Community Playground Project  – Kids everywhere should have a safe, fun place to play.

Lawrenceville

Lawrenceville VFW – The father of Sharon Horton, our drive up teller, is very involved with this nonprofit.

 

Lawrence County Cancer Resource Center provides assistance to residents who are actively going through cancer treatment.

 

Lawrence County Senior Citizens provides several services and meals to seniors, along with facilitating socialization (pre-COVID).

 

Martinsville

Martinsville PTO – Tiffani Higginbotham, our Vice President Mortgage Officer in Marshall, volunteers with this PTO.

Marshall

West Union Library

 

Marshall Area Youth Network/MAYN – Donna Barth [Assistant Vice President Branch Manager] and Tiffani Higginbotham [Vice President Mortgage Officer] both volunteer at MAYN.

 

BRIDGE – this nonprofit helps clothe children in Marshall when needed.

 

Gaslight Art Colony – They painted the lion we have at our Marshall location.

 

Robinson

Lawrence/Crawford Association for Exceptional Citizens is a group that assists adults with developmental disabilities by providing support, education, and training.

We chose to support food pantries because of the financial strain the pandemic has caused on many families. We love our communities and wanted to ensure there would be food on the table for all.

Animal Rescues

Pets are part of our community too! Many Casey State Bank employees are animal lovers. For that reason, we decided to support local humane societies as well.

Here at Casey State Bank, we’re committed to helping our communities. Whether you are young, old, or somewhere in between. Whether you volunteer your time helping pets or own a restaurant, it’s all a part of how we provide friendly service to our local community, one customer at a time, one relationship at a time. We’re always happy to help our community by donating to worthy causes, but we especially enjoyed Community Banking Month because we got to freely give without having been asked. It was rewarding to see the joy on the faces of these nonprofits that weren’t expecting to be given anything, and those memories are what motivate us to keep on giving back to the communities we love so much.
